Totally Should Have book tag

book tag harry potter
I was tagged by the wonderful Melissa at In A Bookish World to do the totally should have tag. It's been a long time since I was tagged for this, but I've finally gotten around to it. It was a lot of fun, even if some questions were really hard to answer. ;)

1. Totally should have gotten a sequel.

I found this one really hard to answer. I mostly read series and even though the wait for sequels is often infuriating, we can always rely on there being one. But I do read stand-alones as well. The thing with those is that they are well.. finished. But if I had to choose one book to get a sequel, it would be The Martian by Andy Weir. I looooooooved that book so much. I would read anything featuring Mark Watney.

2. Totally should have had a spinoff series.

Harry Potter J.K. Rowling Dumbledore PerkamentusHarry Potter by J.K. Rowling. No doubt about it. I don't care if it's not a creative answer. I still desperately need J.K. Rowling to tell me the story of the Marauders. I need Hogwarts in the era of Lily and James. The world and characters are so brilliant I can't get enough of them. And even though there are seven books (eight on its way *partyyyy*) there are still so many questions left unanswered.

But as much as I want that, I also want a Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin spinoff. I would LOVE to get a series set in the Targaryen era. I'm extremely fascinated by that dynasty and I want more of them. A lot more. Especially Rhaegar. Maybe it would even confirm my speculations on a certain bastard's heritage.

3. An author who totally should have written more books.

Easy. John Green. Always John Green. There's an endless amount of books and authors I love, but John Green is my absolute fave. His intellect, wit and humor, but most of all his ability to describe feelings and situation in ways that are both wise and funny, painful and true - blow my mind. So I will always need more by him. Rumor has it he's working on a new book and I can only hope that's true. I for one can't wait. John Green is one of the awesomest persons I know. Well, not 'know' know obviously. But I follow him everywhere he is to follow. His videos with Hank are always the best. It almost feels as if he's one of us and that's the best thing an author can achieve. Dftba!

4. Totally should have ended up with someone else.

DRACO AND HERMIONE! Haha, no I'm just kidding. As much as I love writing that Dramione fanfic I'm working on, I'm still a huge Hermione-Ron shipper. If we were talking tv shows, my list would be endlessly. When it comes to books, I'm not that sure. In the end I usually get on board with the ship. But-

I know we are all pretending Twilight by Stephenie Meyer doesn't exist. Still. I used to be pretty bummed when Bella ended up with Edward Cullen. No, bummed doesn't cut it. I hated it. Because Edward was a creep, but mostly because I really liked Jake. Teenage me still gets angry thinking about it. (Also, and this is more wishful thinking since the series hasn't ended yet, I want Feyre to break things off with Tamlin in ACOTAR and get together with Rhysand. I know he's been pretty much horrible so far, but I've got this feeling... *wink*)

5. Totally should have ended differently.

Legend by Marie Lu. I feel like I have ranted about this before, but it just makes me so angry. Everyone seems to think the ending was real sweet with Day and June meeting again after a couple of years, reintroducing themselves. Hi, I'm Daniel. Hi, I'm June. I HATED IT. Because who cares if they come back in each other's lives when Day is no longer who he used to be? Doesn't anyone else get that losing your memories turns you into a completely different person? Daniel is not the Day I cared so much for. This ending feels like cheating. I get that they couldn't stay together with what June has done. They're somehow starting over but this would never work. Because how can they be together when June is intend on not telling him about their past? Meh. I LOVED the books, but this was not a happy ending for me!

6. Totally should have had a movie franchise.

Anna And The French Kiss Stephanie Perkins
When it comes to movie franchises I'm both crazy excited and skeptical. If done right, it's the best thing there is. But when the movie sucks... If done right, though, I would LOVE for Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins to be turned into a movie. I know there are so many others as well, but imagine what a sweet romance that would be. French boarding school, hot french/british/american guy, PARIS... Make it happen, please!

7. Totally should have had a tv show.

AAARGH, SO MANY. I'm a sucker for tv shows, especially any sort of adaption. So which bookish ones do I want? Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and The Young Elites by Marie Lu, please. Both would be a huge challenge because they need to capture the darkness and power and delicate ties between characters exactly right, but hell I would pay big money to see this happen. Also, I want in on the casting committee. Those worlds are so unique and vivid, that alone would make great television. And especially the story of TOG is way too complex to turn into a movie. It's a tv show or nothing at all.

8. Totally should have had a cover change.

ACOTAR Sarah J Maas ACOMAF A Court Of Thorns And Roses
I know lots of people are going to disagree with me here. But A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas is my most obvious choice. I don't like the cover, nor do I think the cover for Mist and Fury looks any better. I'm not exactly sure what it is that bothers me, but I just think it's ugly. Sorry? I would definitely consider buying new copies if they decided to change the covers.

9. Totally should have kept the original covers.

Again, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. There are tons of editions these days and I am the first to admit that some of them are GORGEOUS. But a couple of weeks ago, I came across these fluo editions and they were just awful. At first I didn't even realize they were Harry Potter books, but when I did I could only stare at them in disgust. If they were any other series it might not have been so bad, but this.. well. Judge for yourself.

10. Totally should have stopped at book one.

The Selection by Kiera Cass. Definitely. I liked the first book. It was new, exciting, sweet and much like a guilty pleasure. Princesses, princes, royal marriages. Yes, I loved the almost Disney-vibe it gave me. Everything else was just bulshit. Overdone love triangles, pathetic attempts at revolutions, whining, ridiculous Mary Sue behavior and a new selection with only terribly boring guys. Hmpf, everything after The Selection was just real disappointing. I'm glad The Crown will be finally be the end of it.

  1. Okay here we go!!! (I'm just going to short reply to all categories)

    1. Is it that good??? I've recently added it to my tbr because it really looks good! Also haven't seen the movie. And I'm hesitating about which one should I do first? Book or movie?

    2. YES for HP!! GoT I don't really watch or read, not my thing :p

    3. I'm jealous about the fact that you seem to like all John Green books! I love TFIOS but I couldn't get into the other books, they seem so different from TFIOS, like it's written from a total different author.

    4. Giirllllll, you know how much Yvonne and I looooooove your fanfiction! :D
& I totally agree she should ditch Tamlin, but besides Rhysand I also kind of ship her with Lucien!! :D

    5. Hmmm, I'm definitely in the group of people who loved the ending haha :D
    But you have a point!

    6. I want movies for all three then! Cause Isla and Josh are definitely my OTP!

    7. Haven't read Young Elites yet but YES to ToG tv show!!!!! ♥ ♥

    8. I kind of agree with you. I mean, I like it from far away, but if I look at the details of the drawings then I'm like 'ugh no'. I think the woman could have been drawn better.

    9. Have you seen those covers in real life before? Because I used to think the same way as you, but they are actually pretty when you have them in your hands haha

    10. I agree! And yet I keep reading the series haha :D Have you continued reading too? Or have you continued too?

OKay, I'm sorry for this super long comment haha :D
Great post and I really love your answers!!! ♥

  2. Never apologize for long comments, I love them! & I'm glad you at least agree on some things.

Yes, I thought the Martian was thát good. There's a lot of technical stuff and all that, but it's such a great story and the main character is wonderful. Read the book first, then watch the movie. Matt Damon is brilliant in it! As to John Green.. Well, what can I say? I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan. Looking For Alaska is probably my all time favorite book (well, except for hp of course). I don't know? It's not the stories so much as the ideas in it that appeal to me. He has a certain view on the world that I really appreciate. Can't really explain it xD

Also, thanks for still keeping up with Silver Dawn! I really need to get writing again. :O

FEYRE AND LUCIEN, RIGHT? Before there was Rhysand I really wished for them to happen. I'm starting to think that maybe I'm on board with everyone that's not Tamlin. Although he really stepped up his game near the end of the book and I did start liking/loving him.

& THE MORE MOVIES THE MERRIER! Josh is SO amazing. Yes, let's make them all. NOW. There are so many books that would make great movies, but sometimes I really just need a great romance. Can't help it. I'm cliche like that.

Yes, I've seen the HP covers irl. Have to say I didn't really like them either. They just don't have that hp-vibe. Meh. But hey, who am I to judge? Except when it comes to the Selection, haha! Yes, I've continued. I've read everything so far, but I'm happy it will end after this next one.

    1. I HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING TOO. And I'm just gonna reply to this here, ha!

I actually agree with Melissa on John Green ... I've read Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherine's, Let it Snow and TFIOS - TFIOS was definitely my favorite and while LfA wasn't that bad, I also didn't really like it that much. Oh well. :D

But hoooow can you guys ship Lucien & Feyre?! I see them more as best friends or something like that. There's no way I could picture them having steamy/romantic scenes together. Then again, maybe because I'm already FAR TOO OBSESSED WITH RHYSAND. ♥

Also, giiiiirl! Your pictures are AMAZING! I love them so, so much!!! <3

    2. I love how you're both 'giiiiiirl'-ing me, haha. I'm sort imagining your voices now. Thank you! I think I'm getting the hang of how to edit my pictures properly. ;)

& Yes, I shipped Lucien & Feyre a bit. They are going to be best friends (they have to!), but what can I say.. I'm a sucker for best-friend-becomes-more relationships. But obviously now that Rhysand is in the picture, that ship has totally sunk.
